Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Machinist Trade Certification, Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification, 1st Period Apprentice, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, 4th Period Apprentice, Machinist Red Seal Endorsment, Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Endorsment, WHMIS Certificate
Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Work Setting: General manufacturing
Type of Machine Experience: Conventional, Computer Numerical Control (CNC)
Machining Tools and Machines: Automatic lathes, Boring machines, Broaching machines, CNC machines, Cylindrical grinders, Drill presses, Engine lathes, Gear cutting machines, Milling machines, Sawing machines, Surface grinders, Tool grinders
Measuring Tools: Micrometers, Callipers, Gauges
Weight Handling: More than 45 kg (100 lbs)
Specific Skills: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables, Program computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, Repair machine tools and parts, Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance, Verify dimensions of machined tools and parts using precision measuring instruments, Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances, Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding, Standing for extended periods
