Your Role:
 
Reporting to the Regional Director, you plan, direct and oversee regional radio and television journalistic programming, production, operations, and business administration.   You are responsible for the overall day-to-day regional editorial direction of CBC Television, Radio and cbc.ca, ensuring the achievement of CBC's journalistic objectives in the CBC North Region.
You will have a key part in allocating and managing all journalistic, human and financial resources.

You plan and manage all special programming including town halls, forums, news specials, enterprise series, investigative projects, Big Pictures, CBC News Inquiries, Newsworld specials and others and are responsible for regional roll-out strategies and cross-promotion of all these initiatives for radio and television, network and local.  
 
You will ensure that a consistently high volume of quality news and current affairs is produced for CBC regional programs for both radio and television, including providing vision and managing the production of content for network news shows, current affairs programs and Newsworld and ensuring that all current and future needs are met.

The successful candidate for this position will have the following:
 
-  Fluency in written & spoken English
-  Advanced knowledge in journalism and program production
-  Knowledge of effective management techniques and strong financial skills
-  Operational understanding and basic computer skills
-  Knowledge of the law as it relates to broadcasting
-  A thorough understanding of the CBC's journalistic, programming, financial, human resource policies and collective agreements
-  Advanced leadership skills along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a cross-cultural environment
-  Effective public speaking skills.
-  The ability to make decisions rapidly and frequently, usually under pressure of a deadline
-  The ability to keep track of a multitude of simultaneous activities and issues and to analyze complex journalistic and operational issues.
