CBC News at Six is looking for a Weather Reporter/Meteorologist to join our successful team in Calgary. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering live and taped weather segments across all CBC platforms. The successful candidate is expected to perform television reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of segments as well as preparing special forecasts and commentary for breaking weather events.
 

In this role you will also be expected to operate weather graphics computer equipment to produce weather reports and maps for use in televised weather broadcasts. Another key responsibility will be to contribute ideas or program content and participate in the preparation of program objectives. Other responsibilities include: broadcasting live from the community as required and participating in community relations activities to promote the CBC.
 

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a degree in Meteorology, coupled with a minimum of three years direct experience. This individual will have demonstrated strong performance and journalistic skills and considerable experience in live television. Experience and excellent understanding of any broadcast weather graphic system, with a proven ability to maximize the use of those systems in ways that best serve audiences is essential. Candidates should have the ability to work flexible hours and file stories and live debriefs for other CBC media platforms.
