General Accountabilities:
Reporting to a P&C Team Lead, be accountable for:
- Prepare Preliminary designs using CADD or manual method, for study into the adequacy of new design schemes for specific engineering needs which, on approval may be used preparing details and drawings.
- Estimate time needed to complete work assigned to the group.
- Interpret requirement of Engineering Specification or engineer/supervisor's instruction to complete a project.
- Supervise assigned staff to enhance proficiency and productivity of individuals and the group.
- Receive drafting assignment for a major segment of a project in which the general object has been established but for which design requirements may not be in final form.
- Schedules work within the group and advise Engineer or Supervisor if any conflicts occur.
- Prepare any computer-input forms or apply directly to established software, ie. PEP to complete the project. Example of this is Bills of Materials.
- Maintain knowledge of past projects and use this knowledge to speed future drawing production.
- Perform calculations and tabulations to prepare construction drawings.
- Check drawings within the assigned group.
- Check manufacturer's shop drawings.
- Provide technical guidance to staff throughout project assignment.
- Demonstrate the use of associated equipment and operating techniques to others as required.
- Suggest enhancements that can be made to CADD systems to improve productivity.
- Demonstrate the use of associated equipment and operating techniques to others as required.
- Supervise up to 10 CADD staff.
- This is a P&C drafting design position.

Selection Criteria:
Essential Knowledge:
- Must have Grade 12 plus one year of post-secondary education in the electrical field.
- Must have sound understanding of drafting principles, associated mathematics and design theories.
- Must have sound understanding of design theories relating to P&C
- Must be efficient and have an advanced knowledge in the use of AutoCad and AutoManager Workflow and Meridian.
- Must have good Supervisory skills
- Must be able to accurately estimate labour requirements to process submitted drawing packages
- Must have strong verbal communication and listening skills.
- Must possess good time management skills.

Essential Experience:
- A period of 10 years or more experience is considered necessary for this position.
- Should be familiar with general drafting issues associated with Protection, Control & Telecom systems and equipment that pertains to Transformer Stations or Lines.
- Requires experience in laying out design proposals.
- Requires experience in checking drawings prepared by others.
- Requires a sound knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and associated mathematics.
- Requires experience in application of various electrical, relaying, control and protection systems for drawing for construction requirements.
- Must be able to work well with others and be a good mentor / trainer with regards to established work practices.
- Interpersonal skills, initiative and a positive attitude in dealing with all customers.
- May require some site visits at times.
- Must be able to deal with competing requirements from client and be able to establish priorities
- Must have experience in performing efficiently in a fast paced high demand situation.
