ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT
Flemingdon Health Centre is a community health centre that has been serving the community and
health needs of local residents since 1975. Our satellite, Fairview Community Health, will open in
2009 to serve residents in the Don Mills area.
Our approach to community health encompasses the broad determinants of health such as
education, employment, isolation, food security and social supports, and utilizes a community
development model to promote health, prevent disease, and build community capacity.
Purpose: The Administration Support worker will provide administrative support to the staff of
the satellite, develop the administrative structure of the satellite as well as provide intake
services for new clients.
Educational and personal requirements:
• Two to five years office experience in a health setting
• Secondary School Diploma or equivalent; Post secondary education an asset
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent organizational and coordinating skills to respond to fluctuating workloads
• Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with community professionals and staff
• Proficiency in typing and in the use of computers and various software
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team environment
• Ability to work at satellite and main location, as well as flexible hours including some
evenings
• Knowledge of the satellite catchment area is considered an asset
• Ability to speak other languages, preferably Farsi, Pashto, Arabic or Mandarin, is an asset
Responsibilities:
• Handle reception, public inquiries and public relations duties
• Facilitate intake procedure, registration, enrolment, and orientation to the satellite interim
services
• Schedule and maintain client appointments, centre activities and arrangements with
community partners
• Establish satellite record keeping and filing systems
• Implement document management and distribution systems and maintain inventory of
necessary forms and supplies
• Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes of meetings and coordinate meeting arrangements
• Create and maintain a resource and referral directory
• Provide administrative support to satellite staff
• Prepare monthly encounter statistics, and compile other data, as required
• Update website information for both satellite and main location
• Perform administrative duties at Flemingdon Health Centre as required
• Carry out health promotion activities/programs
• Other activities as assigned by the Satellite Coordinator
