Do you work or want to work in the field of Addictions counselling?
The Aboriginal Community Wellness Diploma is a partnership program of the University of Manitoba and the Manitoba Community Wellness Working Group. The program starting in January 2009 is offering a new specialization in Addictions through 60 credit hours of courses from the faculties of Arts (Native Studies and Psychology), Human Ecology, Social Work, Nursing and Kinesiology and Recreation Management. The Diploma can be applied to ~SELECT~ degree programs at UM and Brandon University for students who elect to continue their post-secondary education.
Aboriginal Focus Programs provides students with higher education that respects Indigenous knowledge and Western theory, through education based on Aboriginal values concerning wellness. The program consists of 33 credit hours of core courses and 27 credit hours of electives and is taught over 2 years. Classes are organized into 7-day sessions offered once a month.

• Physical Activity, Health and Wellness
• Nutrition for Health and Changing Lifestyles
Electives (27 Credit Hours)
The program will comprise of 27 hours (credit and or/non-credit) in the Addictions Specialization.
Funding for this program (tuition and books) is available through the Manitoba Community Wellness Working Group through First Nations and Inuit Health for students from participating First Nation communities. Call for more information.
