VoicePrint, Canada’s national reading service, broadcasting newspaper and magazine articles to the vision impaired and print-restricted communities since 1990, is looking for an Audio Producer/Editor to join their production team. If you have sound recording/editing experience, know the difference between good and bad audio, have good writing and communication skills, then VoicePrint would like to hear from you. Location       -        Toronto, ON Role-        To produce VoicePrint programs, working closely with the volunteers-        Prepare regional and weekend programs for on air play Key ResponsibilitiesIn concert with the VoicePrint production team

  1. Be familiar with all elements of VoicePrint Canada programming.
  2. Understand how to operate the relevant technical equipment.
  3. Ensure recording schedules and deadlines are met.
  4. Foster and maintain good relationships with volunteers and fellow employees;
  5. Upload program segments to Audio archive on the VoicePrint Canada web site
  6. Compile news and feature material for broadcast
  7. Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager

Qualifications/Competencies 

  • Sound grasp of audio production and the broadcast environment
  • Proficiency in English, including the rules of pronunciation
  • Volunteer and time management skills
  • Interest in news and current events
  • Knowledge and understanding of VoicePrint and goals
  • Ability to work efficiently and with daily deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and accessing the internet. 
  • Knowledge of JAWS and/or other adaptive technology would be an asset  
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the accessibility needs of print-restricted Canadians
