The Office of the Assembly is the administrative arm of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Our mandate is to provide non-partisan support services to all Members of Provincial Parliament.
Student Interpretive Officer
Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations Branch
Use your effective communication and customer service skills to provide public relations and information services within the Office of the Legislative Assembly, Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations Branch. You will: conduct educational presentations of the Legislative Building and its grounds in English and French describing the heritage of Ontario, the parliamentary process and the art and architecture of the building; respond to general inquiries at the public inquiry counter as well as provide information on Toronto/Ontario tourist attractions; greet and welcome visitors both inside and outside the building; assist at the Legislative Gift Shop and provide support to all areas of this multi-faceted Branch.
Successful candidates will be required to work weekends and occasional evenings.
The contract begins in October 2011 and ends August 2012. The hourly rate for this position is $15.36 per hour.
QUALIFICATIONS: College or University student with experience in working with the public, tour presentations and experience in addressing audiences of varying sizes, interests and educational needs. Flexibility, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public is essential in a politically sensitive and non-partisan environment.
FLUENCY IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH IS ESSENTIAL FOR BILINGUAL POSITIONS.
