The Patient Information Clerk is frequently the first point of contact when patients and families arrive to the department. This position provides service in a customer-focused manner. The Patient Information Clerk will facilitate the delivery of patient care by providing a high level of support and assistance to the POCU mulitdisciplinary team and patients/families. This position supports the operation of the team/department by providing clerical and administrative functions in a proactive, organized manner. Shifts available may include day, evening, nights, weekends and rotational.

Answer multiple phone lines
Book surgical cases
Provide clerical support to all health care staff
Assist in meeting the needs of the patients and their families when appropriate
Here's What You'll Need
Diploma from a recognized Administrative/Secretarial program or equivalent work experience
Previous clerical experience in a hospital/medical environment
Knowledge of medical terminology
Basic proficiency with computers (i.e. word processing)
Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills
Demonstrated problem solving abilities
Ability be self-directed, flexible and to take initiative
Attention to detail and efficient time management
Strong customer service orientation
KidCom training and patient registration experience are definite assets
