Department Overview
The successful candidate will support TD Legal's Toronto Office, currently consisting of two lawyers. The Toronto office focuses on commercial leasing, real estate, and environmental law.
Job Description
Accountabilities will include:
Preparation & review of various legal documents
Correspondence and proof reading of documents
Typing and dicta-typing
General office administration activities including stationery, equipment servicing / maintenance, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
Maintaining electronic and physical filing and diary systems, including archiving
Management of various databases (enhancements, data gathering, inputting, report generation and data reconciliation)
Handling communications with internal and external customers to assist in providing appropriate information and documentation.
Managing accounting functions (invoice payments, internal charge outs to other cost centers, setting up files on Tymetrix, liaising with Accounts Payable and Finance)
Sending and receiving mail and faxes
Scheduling and organizing meetings
Chairing internal team meetings (minutes, agenda preparation, issue & resolution tracking, and other administrative requirements)
Executing assigned deliverables within specified parameters
Other sundry duties/projects for the Corporate Office legal team as assigned
Job Requirements
You will have experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment, having acquired proficient knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, principles and procedures
You must have the proven ability as a document specialist to review and edit complex legal documents along with the drafting of legal correspondence
You must be highly organized, detail oriented, able to work independently, have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, have good problem solving skills, as well as strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
You must have the desire to expand capabilities and responsibilities - demonstrating initiative in an enthusiastic and pro-active approach
You must possess strong PC skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), Blacklining Software, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Visio, database software, and ability to research electronically
Experience in a real estate environment would be an asset
Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:
A legal assistant diploma or clerk designation is required
