The Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC) of MacEwan University is recruiting for a limited-term position of Front of House Coordinator in MacEwan’s spectacular new Allard Hall. Working in collaboration with key faculty and staff, the Front of House Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of front of house activities for three performance venues, plus occasional small impromptu performance spaces. The Coordinator will train and supervise casual staff, volunteers, and interns. In addition to overseeing box office functions and house management, the Coordinator will also develop and pursue strategies for expanding MacEwan’s internal and external audiences; and pursue promotional opportunities. Hours of work are still under review, but the successful candidate will be expected to work some evenings and weekends.


The successful candidate will have experience in a computerized box office environment; in training and supervising staff, and recruiting volunteers. Knowledge of house management best practices and procedures is required and proficiency is required in Microsoft Office. Candidates must be bondable. Experience with Theatre Manager and InDesign software would be an asset. This position also requires excellent customer service skills; above-average interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skillsabove-average verbal and written communication skills; the ability to work independently and to prioritize competing demands; flexibility and the ability to resolve conflict; and the ability to respond with tact and diplomacy in stressful situations.


This position requires a minimum of a diploma in arts management, theatre or a related discipline, and a minimum of one year of professional experience in a box office utilizing a computerized ticketing system. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

This position is included under the MacEwan Staff Association collective agreement.
