Lead, Develop and Promote Positive Hockey Experiences

The Coordinator, Photo/Video Services will contribute to the success of Hockey Canada by:

• Helping to keep Hockey Canada fiscally responsible
• Contribute to increasing hockey numbers across Canada
• Maintaining a positive culture and a sustainable atmosphere

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hockey Canada office

• Work with a variety of departments within Hockey Canada as well partners and clients to fulfill all video and photo requirements.
• Work with Manager, Video/Photo and Manager, National Teams Video in operations of the video areas within Hockey Canada’s offices at Winsport including knowledge of all workings of the dressing rooms, shrine, coaches office, video theatre, edit suite and office building which will include all boardrooms and A/V throughout floor.
• Assist with in-house video operations, including score clock, video boards and in-house feeds and systems related to video and messaging.
• Required to be A/V “expert” trouble shooting, setting up etc.

Video

• Prepare and create project plans, scripting, critical paths and creative for all Hockey Canada video initiatives.
• Produce, shoot, light and edit, create graphics for all videos and DVDs as required for all departments such as:
• Marketing and Event Promos for host committees (domestic & international events Jumbotron or commercial promotion, ticket promos, features)
• AGM – year end highlight video, award winners, graphics for event
• Development – creation of instructional videos, highlight videos, resource videos & DVDs
• Special events (gala etc) – highlight videos for event and web
• Media/Web/Event – work with media & event staff to shoot on site, edit and package, compress features to run on hockeycanada.ca
• When required, light and shoot all events in office or on site.
• Manage all inventory and organization of video library and video equipment.
• Respond to requests for daily duplication needs such as DVDs, CDs etc as required for internal or external sources.
• Manage all projects, which may be outsourced to a production house.
• Work in conjunction with Aquila Productions to access Hockey Canada’s video archives and to track all requests and insure proper invoicing on all Hockey Canada video properties.
• Work in conjunction with Breakaway to fulfill all duplication requests in addition to managing appropriate packaging for retail products.
• Work with Hockey Canada media partner TSN/RDS (CTV) to ensure all game broadcasts are being recorded and then catalogued and archived accordingly in the video library.

Photo

• In house photographer, will be required to shoot, light, edit images for Hockey Canada events, initiatives or special projects.
• Manage, maintain and fulfill all photo requests using Hockey Canada digital photo library requested by Hockey Canada staff, partners or external clients.
• Work with Hockey Canada partner Hockey Hall of Fame to access all IIHF digital media for use with Hockey Canada projects and properties and external clients.
• Act as liaison with freelance photographers and partners to ensure photo needs are being fulfilled and photos are shot and returned to Hockey Canada photo library in a timely manner.
• Responsible for uploading images to photo archive (HHOF site or HC site)
• Responsible for cataloguing images as well as associating proper data with photos.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Efficient & creative at video production, must be proficient in being an independent worker or one person team to produce, directing, scripting, light, shooting, edit and package. Must be able to operate a variety of video equipment such as HD cameras, a variety of lights, microphones, backdrops etc.
• Skilled & talented still photographer. Has experience shooting hockey as well as a variety of events. An eye and passion for shooting still photos as well as experience operating professional camera equipment, lights (strobes/stand alone) and backdrops.
• Extensive computer and software skills. Must be proficient in a variety of software such as Final Cut Pro Studio (DVD Studio Pro, Motion), Adobe suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash) in addition to other video/photo programs.
• Knowledge and understanding of video compression, graphics software etc.
• Proficient on both MAC and PC platforms.
• Being Bilingual in French and English will be considered as asset.
• Effective project coordination and time management skills with an attention to detail as well as being able to complete last minute projects successfully.
• Excellent organizational, inter-personal and communication skills (script writing, etc).
• Strong administrative skills (MS Office)
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written
• Ability to work diligently within a team
environment and/or individual setting
• Expectation for the ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, holidays and evenings as well as may be required to travel.
• May be required to budget or invoice.
• Ability to multi-task and work with limited supervision
• Work well under tight timelines & trouble shoot equipment
• Knowledge and passion for hockey.
