Title: Community and social services worker (Shelter Relief Workers) (NOC: 4212)

Terms of Employment: Casual, Part Time, Shift, Weekend, Day, Night, Evening

Salary: $18.51 Hourly for 16 hours per week

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: York-Weston / Dufferin-St.Clair, Ontario (5 vacancies )
Skill Requirements:

Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Child and Youth Care Worker (CCW/CYW) Diploma, Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma, Community Support Worker (CSW) Diploma, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, Cultural Awareness Training, First Aid Certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

Work Setting: Shelter for the homeless

Target Groups or Clients: Male, Female, Seniors, Culturally diverse groups, Street population, Persons with physical disabilities, Persons with mental health disabilities

Type of Community or Social Service: Services for the homeless

Specific Skills: Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, Develop, coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community, Provide suicide and crisis intervention, Resolve conflict situations, Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients

Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities, Housekeeping activities

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Physically demanding

Other Information:This location provides shelter to animals. Staff are required to work with pets.
